What does the Old Mutual EasiFlex Funeral plan cover - for me and my family?
The Old Mutual EasiFlex Funeral Plan, insured by Old Mutual Alternative Risk Transfer Limited (OMART), is a funeral policy for you and your family with lots of flexibility in payment methods like a monthly debit order, online via PayFast or at most major retailers using Pay@.
The easiest is through a monthly debit order collection on your selected debit date, but you also have the option to change the debit date or pause the debit order collection through your policy dashboard.

How many other people can I cover with it? Also, can I include extended family, and how many?
The Old Mutual EasiFlex Funeral Plan allows you to add additional people to your policy. You can add your spouse, children and extended family members. You can cover up to a maximum of 20 additional people.
The Old Mutual EasiFlex Funeral Plan pays when either you or one of the people you have insured dies. The amount paid to you will be in line with how up-to-date you are with your premiums. You may have reduced cover if you have Skipped some premiums.

How much does it cost to cover family members?
The Old Mutual EasiFlex Funeral Plan caters for your pocket, the premium for each life added to the policy is calculated individually so you can add people to the policy and decide on how much cover you would like to purchase for them, within the regulatory limits.

How will I know, at any given time, how much I’m covered for (especially where I’ve skipped premium)?
We will send you an SMS when you have skipped a premium to let you know we didn’t receive it. We will also share a link to your policy dashboard which you can access at any time to see your cover amount for that month.

Are there different payment options available to me like paying daily, weekly, bi-weekly & monthly?
Your premium is due on your debit date, as mentioned in your policy documents. But the good news is you can pay anytime before that! Keep in mind, that you can't pay a portion of your premium. You'll need to pay the full amount due, or even more if you'd like which would go into your premium wallet and contribute to your next premium.

What if I can't afford to pay my premiums?
That is why we introduced the Old Mutual EasiFlex Funeral Plan, it allows you to pay when you have funds to do so, and if you don’t then rather than cancel your policy, your cover for deaths due to natural causes is reduced. We keep all this information up to date on your policy dashboard and SMS you monthly so you are kept informed.

What does “Dormant” mean?
Even the Old Mutual EasiFlex Funeral Plan has a limit to how many premiums you can miss. If you Skip six consecutive premiums, your Cover (for natural causes and accidental death) will reduce to zero for you and all additional lives.
The good news is that we won’t cancel your policy: we will just leave it Dormant. It will remain in place, ready for you to Reactivate all your benefits by simply re-starting your premium payments. (Note in the same way as cover for death due to natural causes reduces gradually as premiums are skipped, your cover will gradually increase once you reactivate your policy).

What does “Reactivate” mean?
If your policy is dormant, you can reactivate your policy by simply resuming your premium payments. You will have full accidental death cover from the reactivation date and your natural causes death cover will gradually increase when you restart your premium payments.

Do my premiums increase?
The Old Mutual EasiFlex Funeral Plan premiums increase annually on your policy anniversary. The annual increase is 6%. The premium increase applies even if you skip premiums.

How can I increase my cover and how will I know what my premium is?
Easy! You can login at any time via your policy dashboard to increase your cover, add or remove insured persons and view your premium.

Can I add people at any point (during the months I am not paying premiums)?
Yes, you can add people via the policy dashboard at any point The cover for each additional life added will start on receipt of the next premium.

How long does cover last and when does cover stop?
The policy will cease in the event of your death. Please note, that if you cancel your cover, the policy and cover on all additional people insured under the policy will cease. If more than six premiums are Skipped in the twelve months after your policy starts, or if your policy has been Dormant for more than two years and we have been unable to contact you, then your policy may be cancelled at the insurer’s sole discretion.

What is the Forever Accidental Benefit?
After every 6 consecutive monthly premium payments, you will earn R1,000 Forever Accidental Benefit for yourself, and R500 for each additional life covered on your policy. The Forever Accidental Benefit will still be active even if your policy is Dormant, and will pay out on accidental death (in addition to your cover applicable at the time).

How do I submit a claim? How long will it take to receive the payout?
You can log a claim via the Old Mutual EasiFlex Funeral Plan policy dashboard, or you can email us on claims@easiflex.co.za or call us at 010 020 4350.
Valid claims will be paid out within 2 business days after all required claim documents are received. If a claim is disputed, the claim will be paid or declined within 14 business days. To see more information on claims visit https://easiflex.co.za/claims.

What are the limitations of this cover? When will they cover not be paid?
Your cover includes a 6-month waiting period on each life added on the policy. During this time, benefits won’t be paid if the insured passes away from natural causes, but accidental deaths are covered. If the insured person doesn’t meet the relationship definitions applicable at the time of purchase.

Can I claim during the months I skip?
If a claim event occurs and any payments have been skipped in the previous 6 months, your claim payout will be reduced proportionally based on the number of Skipped premiums.
